This should be the new trend in music: artists saying sorry for canceling their tour or missing a performance by offering their fans free music.
As a way of apology for postponing her Spring tour, Sophie Ellis Bextor and her management have issued a statement which follows.
You can download the free track here.
"Wallace Productions and Fascination Records would like to apologise for the cancellation of Sophie Ellis-Bextor's spring tour.
It is never ideal when tours are cancelled or postponed because of recording commitments and we deeply regret the inconvenience this has caused.
Every effort is being made to reschedule for the Autumn and previously purchased tickets will of course be valid for the new dates.
We will announce the new schedule and dates at the end of March.
Sophie is hard at work in the studio completing the extra tracks for her Greatest Hits tentatively scheduled for late Spring. She really appreciates the support she gets from her fans and is particularly sensitive about those of you already holding tickets.
Sophie has asked Wallace Productions, her management company and Fascination Records, her record company to make available this previously unreleased track Love Is The Law as free digital downloads on her website to say "sorry ! "
We hope you enjoy it and appreciate that every effort is being made to reschedule the dates to fit the recording schedule and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
Best wishes,
Wallace Productions and Fascination Records."
