Playfully Angular House Designs

Takeshi Hirobe Architects Design the Villa MKZ in Japan

When we see angular house designs in person or in pictures, it is hard to decipher whether the architects made such formal decisions for the aesthetic or for the functionality. In the case of Villa MKZ, it might be both.

The concrete house is located in Minamiboso City, Japan and it was designed by the Japanese studio Takeshi Hirobe Architects. The designers were challenged by the shape of the site and had to think outside of the box, ending up with "an arrangement of interlocking, triangular volumes topped with an angular roofscape." The result boasts eye-catching shapes both from ground-level and aerial views. Naturally, Takeshi Hirobe Architects maximized design opportunities in the home and provided large, glazed openings that reveal breathtaking outdoor sceneries from the inside, as well.
