Cohousing Companies

McCamant & Durrett Architects Offer Collaborative Design and Living

How do you envision your life? McCamant & Durrett Architects is a company that offers co-housing. What is cohousing? "Cohousing is a concept that came to North America in 1988 from Denmark where it emerged over 25 years ago," according to the Canadian Cohousing Network. "It describes neighbourhoods that combine the autonomy of private dwellings with the advantages of shared resources and community living."

Founded by Kathryn McCamant and Charles Durrett, this California-based firm that puts its focus on social and environmental goals. But what's more than that, the architects consider the input of its clients through workshop sessions in order to create the best community possible.

If you'd like to learn more about cohousing, check out the founders' two books: Cohousing: A Contemporary Approach to Housing Ourselves and Creating Cohousing: Building Sustainable Communities.
