The S model shares the same 440hp 4.7 liter engine with another Italian beast, the Alfa 8C Competizone, and is coupled with an electro-actuated MC-Shift gearbox mounted on the rear transaxle for optimized weight distribution and faster shifting times. . Other performance enhancements include dual cast iron and aluminum brake discs with aluminum 6 piston calipers built by Brembo, exclusively for Maserati.
