The Jabuticaba tree is not like other fruit trees you have ever seen. It stands apart since the fruit grows right out of the trunk instead of the branches! Found in few countries in South America, these Grape Trees have evolved to budding their fruit on the trunks for those animals that can't climb.
By having these grapes so readily available for animal, the Jabuticaba tree secures its survival. Since the fruit is so accessible, the chances for the seeds to flourish away from the parent tree have multiplied. Looking through the pictures of these juicy look fruit, I must say this is one delicious looking evolution.
