The Edison2 Very Light Car prototype was designed and built by a team of engineers, auto design specialists, aerodynamics experts, race industry professionals and others to meet the Progressive Automotive X-Prize challenge of creating a commercially viable vehicle that can exceed 100 miles per gallon of gas or its equivalent.
The Virginia-based Edison2 Very Light Car takes fuel efficiency to the extreme because its weight is a fraction of a conventional vehicle, it needs less fuel. The Edison2 team expects to achieve a fuel efficiency of 110 mpg in the city and 140 on the highway.
