The 2010 Polaris RANGER EV Electric-Powered Side-By-Side uses the same chassis as the gas-powered RANGER 400, but it leaves the noise of a gas engine behind. A 30 horsepower electric motor barely makes a sound, has a top speed of 25 mph, two hours of riding time, and up to a 50 mile range between charges. It comes with VersaTRac--one-wheel rear wheel drive--for tight navigation, and on-demand all-wheel-drive for rough terrain.
Minneapolis-based Polaris is hoping to appeal to the green off-road enthusiast. The AC Induction motor provides can be charged using a standard 110 vac outlet. MSRP is $10,699 US.
