Recreating Iconic Films

Tyra Banks Says ‘I Called Her Mahogany' in V Magazine

In addition to posing like Michelle Obama last year, Tyra Banks recreated the iconic Diana Ross movie ‘Mahogany’ for V Magazine.

Tyra Banks was joined by Sessilee Lopez in the editorial ‘I Called Her Mahogany’ by photographer Sebastian Faena. The editorial recreated the 70s ‘high-octane’ diva glam with styling by Sofia Achaval.

Released in 1975, 'Mahogany' starred Diana Ross as a poor black woman who goes on to become a popular fashion designer in Rome. Diana Ross sang the “Theme from Mahogany (Do You Know Where You’re Going To), which topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1976.

The editorial appeared in V55, the October 2008 issue of V Magazine.
