Knitted Body Suits

'Skin - A Good Thing To Live In' Explores Contemporary Issues

Freddie Robins is a brilliant, accomplished artist who uses machine knitted wool for his expressive art-pieces. ‘Skin - A Good Thing To Live In’ is a woolen, man-size body suit made to represent an alternative form of skin.

The knitted overall was shown at the Triennale in Milan at the Diritto Rovescio - an exhibition entirely devoted to knitting and embroidery, what you could call the feminine crafts.

However the artist, Freddie Robins also loves the “feminine” medium of knitted textiles which he believes is a powerful tool for expression and communication. Because of its “friendly” and soft nature, wool can get an audience to engage with a subject that might otherwise repulse them.
