New Study Suggests Weight Gain Maintains Youthful Appearance

A new study conducted by a team led by Dr. Bahman Guyuron of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland reveals some interesting results regarding lifestyle and keeping a youthful appearance. Guyuron’s team of plastic surgeons who study faces for a living conducted this study at the Annual Twins Day Festival in Twinsburg, Ohio. The team studied twins and compared their lifestyles in an effort to show the affects of varied lifestyles on the age appearance of people with the same genetic make-up.

The study yielded some expected results: smokers and those who tan often age more quickly. A not-so-surprising result was that those with a higher divorce rate looked older as well. The surprising find is that adding a few pounds actually makes you look younger.

The full results of the Twin Study is set to be published in the journal of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The bottom line, though, as you get older, is to think about adding a few pounds.
