Woven Newspaper Art

Sculptures From Recycled News Dazzle at Saint Etienne Biennale '08

This woven newspaper art piece is called 'Basin' and was created by Chinese artist Xue Tao. The artwork consists of hundreds of twisted Chinese newspapers and was exhibited as part of the Saint Etienne Biennale 2008.

The Chinese contemporary design section focused on looking at the fast economic growth, social change and Western influences on the country. One of the questions explicitly posed was "...how the country of China will be able to define a contemporary culture without abandoning its long traditions."
