Flesh-Covered Furniture Sculptures

Jessica Harrison Covers Household Objects with Human Flesh

These furniture sculptures by Jessica Harrison are slightly disturbing. It's funny how skin can look so good on a body and yet, look incredibly eerie on anything else.

Jessica has taken everyday household objects like grandfather clocks, chairs and couches and then covered them with material that resembles human skin. She achieves this effect by making casts with skin from her own body. It's impressive how realistic she was able to put these pieces together, especially with the folds, wrinkles and hair that is typical of actual human skin.

The result is a set of quite grotesque furniture sculptures that are sure to leave a mark in your memory. Once you see these pieces, it is very difficult to forget them.
