Destroyed Architecture Art

Beyt by '2b design' is a Social Enterprise Employing the 'Unemployable'

"We restore the unseen beauty of the broken, a perfect blend between beauty, history and social commitment," Beyt by '2b design' writes on its Facebook page. Whether that beauty is unseen or simply uncreated yet is the question. 2b, an award-winning social enterprise, takes destroyed homes from the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries and creates product lines such as wrought iron, wood, cooper, tile, trays, tables, floor lamps and lampshades.

2b design was founded in Lebanon but the model has since expanded into the United States. Rather than seeing things as a triple bottom line as many social businesses do, this company has multiple bottom lines including beauty, social integration, reconciliation, environment and preservation of cultural heritage.
