Illuminated Origami Installations

London's Canary Wharf Hosts Thousands of Floating Lights

What looks like floating lights is actually a massive series of origami boats with a light inside each one. The installation is housed in London's Canary Wharf and is called Voyage.

Voyage is the beautiful work of media architect Claudio Benghi and light artist Gloria Ronchi. They first joined forces in 2006 to form an interdisciplinary collaboration Aether & Hemera, and this is their second installation.

The floating lights are on 24 hours a day, but best viewed at night for obvious reasons. What's really cool about this installation is the social media integration that allows users to connect to a nearby wireless network and influence the color of the installation based on their interactions with it. The details of such interactions are not available at the moment, so you'll have to head down there to find out.
