The method of producing these images is pretty straight forward. What happens is a photo is taken of the objects and placed on the desk, so you're never actually seeing a 3D object. The pictures are skewed all along, but they're filmed on an angle so they look like 3D objects. The camera goes in for a close up and everything looks legit, but when it pulls back and the hand moves in the trick is revealed.
Brusspup features similar illusions on his YouTube channel which are described as "illusion science." For this particular illusion, he even includes the images he used so viewers at home can print them out and try this themselves.
