The See Through Prius Eliminates Blind Spots From Back of Vehicles

The name of the See Through Prius may be a little misleading. The Toyota model has not, in fact, been tweaked to be built out of a transparent material such as glass or plastic. That would simple negate the practicality of eliminating blind spots altogether. Instead, it uses a unique projection system that plays real-time footage from behind the car on the back seats.

Developed by Researchers at Keio University in Japan, the See Through Prius would ensure that accidents resulting from backing up would be significantly reduced. It will also make driving techniques such as parallel parking much easier to execute. For those who may have guessed this already, the See Through Prius is a variant on optical-camouflage technology. It will be on display at the 2012 Digital Content Expo in Tokyo.
