Honda USA 'Paint by Numbers' Shows the Brand's Energy Savings

The Honda USA 'Paint by Numbers' demonstrates the auto brand's commitment to environmentally beneficial practices. It features Honda's senior staff engineer, Shubho Bhattacharya, who explains how he has developed an innovative algorithm and technology to help reduce energy consumption in Honda's factories.

According to the film, during vehicle production, the painting process is the step that consumes the most energy -- it accounts for roughly 60 percent of an auto factory's energy consumption. The Honda USA 'Paint by Numbers' video reveals Bhattacharya's Intelligent Paint Technology, which he developed to reduce CO2 emissions (a result of the painting process) by 25 percent. So far, the technology has effectively reduced 10,000 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year across the car brand's seven factories in North America.
