Winnipeg-born artist Sarah Anne Johnson has created a heavenly collection of mixed media photographs for her Arctic Wonderland series that captures the true beauty of the Arctic.
Sarah traveled to the Norwegian territory of the Arctic Circle to complete her artist's residency. While there, she captured photos of the natural untouched landscapes of mining camps. Sarah then augmented the photos using various mixed media art forms such as ink, screen printing and carving into the prints. Sarah claims that she did so to create a more honest photograph and “to show not just what I saw, but how I feel about what I saw.”
Sarah's Arctic Wonderland photographs have been on display in New York City and Toronto.
