Douglas Young Turns Toys into a Chromatic Art Installation

Designer, architect and entrepreneur Douglas Young has created an art sculpture that will make little kids drool like the youngsters in Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.

Young is the founder of G.O.D, a Hong Kong-based company of brand goods, and has created a luminous stringed sculpture comprised of plastic water pistols called 'Quantity has a Quality In Itself.' A black metal frame holds the stringed plastic water pistols that dangle to create a wall of waving toys. The sculpture's meaning is to explore the memory of Hong Kong and how it once was the world's hub of plastic toy production. The exhibition was presented during Hong Kong's International Art Fair 2012.

"The colorful water pistol was one of its icons. Its lurid colours and poor quality construction is a far cry from the world of art," says Young.
