‘Love is Dead’ by Ivonne Spinoza is Clevar and Crisp

Ivonne Spinoza recently completed the illustrations for her book titled, ‘Love is Dead,’ which depict amorous zombies and enamored ghosts. Each page is simple, to the point and amusing. Though the style is reminiscent of a children’s book, it is intended for a more mature audience, as it may not make for the best bedtime reading for children.

The clever use of irony and visual puns is what gives Love is Dead its quirky humor. Aesthetically speaking, the book has much merit as well. Each illustration is drawn with neatness and precision. More than this, Ivonne Spinoza uses an original color scheme not usually associated with the undead.

Gray, green and black are common hues in most horror-themed palettes. Ever original, Spinoza instead uses colors like pink and purple. This achieves a spooky effect while maintaining the levity of the book.
