London-Based 'Connection Crew' Hires Ex-Homeless People

Connection Crew, which is based in London, United Kingdom, is one of this year's Deloitte Social Innovation Pioneers. It's a logistics company and a social business (they claim to be the only one in the industry).

"Our profit goes to a charity and 25% of our crew are ‘work ready’ ex-homeless people," writes Connection Crew on its website. "This makes us even stronger."

But the social factor isn't the only thing that makes this business successful. It offers competitive services such as stage construction, logistics, sound, lighting, set builders, audio/visual support, transport, 24-hour service and more.

Connection Crew is part of a boundary-pushing 2012 class of Deloitte Social Innovation Pioneers, which features others SocialBusiness.org has covered, for example, Cool2Care, Brighter Future Workshop and Fair Finance.
