Uber Flat Structures

Citylife Tower by Arata Isozaki and Andrea Maffei Associati is a Flatastic De

In 2015, Italy will have its tallest standing standing structure hovering at 207 meters.

Designed by Tokyo-based Arata Isozaki and Milan-based Andrea Maffei Associati, the Citylife Tower looks like a flat and tiny cell phone. These amazing photos show the process of the construction and also reveals the complexity of the building due to its structural form. The building’s facade will be connected by four inclined struts lining the elevation; these straps are used to keep the building’s base intact. Although the building looks like it’ll flop, the intricate construction design will keep the structure from falling over. Not sure how sturdy this tower will be when it comes to earthquakes but it sure does look fancy.

This architectural design by Arata Isozaki and Andrea Maffei Associati is a prime example of innovative architecture that takes a further step to creativity.
