Interaction designer Jean-Christophe Naour has created an app for the iPad called ‘Poly’ that allows users to create polygonal versions of virtually any image. Poly lets one trace imported images while averaging out the colors of that image to produce sharply-angled, almost cubist creations like those featured here.
Of course, the application includes all of the standard features of any image manipulation program. Users are able to manage their data through importing and saving images. They have control over their actions through draw, erase and undo controls. The application even incorporates more advanced features that allow the user to render their images in various styles: flat, point, color blending and wire frame.
The iPad is an intensely visual device. Assuming the interface is copacetic, this app should be a perfect fit for the tablet computer.
