The Mike Bayne 'Homegrown' Series Exhibits Domestic Art

American photographer Mike Bayne's 'Homegrown' series has done an excellent job of capturing haunting everyday life. Working across the continent, Bayne has taken note of activity, or the lack thereof, that most photographers and artists would overlook.

Bayne's Homegrown pieces exhibit broken-down trucks, decimated garbage dumpsters and anonymous storage facilities. The display of rust and virtual abandonment exhibits a certain grim quality, and while this quality may remain unnamed, it is undoubtedly present.

Recently displayed in New York City, the Bayne Homegrown snapshots serve to recognize that which is commonly overlooked in society. The majority of photography productions tend to focus on the mainstream, effectively ignoring dilapidated or forfeited community areas. Despite this norm, Bayne has taken a different route, and has ushered in a new era of forsaken photography.
