Despite its simple aesthetic, PortiqueArmchair by Florent Coirier has a whimsical appeal. It is inspired by garden swings. The seat portion of the chair is attached to a metal frame by rope, allowing it to move back and forth as well as side to side, depending on what the sitter desires. The Paris-based designer was also inspired by the walk-loading of goods from the port of Nantes/SaintNazaire, where he was born.

Full of nostalgic childhood feelings, PortiqueArmchair by Florent Coirier has a ton of character. Made out of unassuming aluminum tubing, oak wood and polyester nautical rope, the overall design of the chair would fit into just about any living space. The materials used happen to be very common to shipbuilding, which pays tribute to Coirier's latter inspiration.
