One of the world’s most infamous luxury brands was brought to life in Christian Borstlap’s animated short film Louis Vuitton I.
The project, commissioned by NOWNESS for the "Louis Vuitton Marc Jacobs" exhibition in Paris, features an animated walk-through of the history of the Louis Vuitton luggage line. It spans from the 19th Century to the present, and explores the progression of the the fashion icon over time.
Borstlap’s film doesn’t view like a traditional documentary. He opts to use hand-drawn geometric and kaleidoscopic imagery to tell the fashion house’s story instead of using more conventional approaches.
There is a limited color palette used, instead, the focus rests on the patterns, textures and shapes that have made the brand famous the world-over.
Louis Vuitton I is an artistic rendition of the transformation and innovation the fashion line has seen over time, and a nod to where it may be in the future.
