The Huffington Post’s 'Gentlemen’s Guide' is an ongoing review of black celebrity fashion idols inclusive of Kanye West, Harry Belafonte, Sidney Poitier and Morris Chestnut in honor of Black History Month. This week however, the publication has made an addendum to their stylized lookbook. Upon noting that male fashion movements often occur on the ground rather than on stage, the Huffington Post teamed up with chief editor Sian-Pierre Regis of Swagger: New York to appraise the everyday panache of the guy-next-door.
Despite the commonplace guy-next-door designation, the slideshow is anything but ordinary. With the work of Regis’ Swagger: New York team, a website that has come to epitomize the Big Apple’s street style, the men showcased in the Huffington Post editorial ooze an atypical flare that would be difficult for anyone to replicate, whether next door or on the big screen. Take the fur coats, flower pendants, oversized overalls and leopard cut-offs as illustrative examples. And yet, all of these men were found among the streets of New York, an indication that unusual ensembles may not be so eccentric after all.
