The 2012 Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue is the First-Ever by Mario Testino

The cover of the 2012 Vanity Fair Hollywood issue is a luxurious 1920s-inspired image featuring 11 up-and-coming actresses. The cover shoot for the annual issue was photographed by the famous Mario Testino for the first time ever. The cover features Rooney Mara, Elizabeth Olsen, Jennifer Lawrence and Jessica Chastain, as well as Mia Wasikowska and Lily Collins.

The ethereal images are a pastel dream, the whimsy of which is complemented by the extreme stylized nature of each young lady's look. The flapper-inspired shoot was styled by Vanity Fair's fashion director Jessica Diehl, who succeeded in creating an art deco-like fantasy. The icy look of the gowns is a sultry introduction to what viewers may see a lot more of, given the impending release of The Great Gatsby in December 2012.
