Propaganda Poster Apps

Relive History With Imperial War Museum 'Great British Posters'

Perfect for history buffs, the Imperial War Museum 'Great British Posters' app offers iPad and iPhone users a chance to see amazing posters from the Second World War.

The Imperial War Museum 'Great British Posters' collection includes 30 of the best posters from the museum's collection of over 20,000 posters. Included in the app's collection are iconic posters like 'Doctor Carrot' (which encouraged children to eat more unrationed foods) and the iconic 'Keep Calm' poster, which was printed to alleviate concern over air raids. These posters, featuring iconic images and memorable slogans, played a huge role in propaganda during World War II and were also revered for their "sophisticated communication and proficient design," says the senior art curator at Imperial War Museum, Richard Slocombe.

In addition to "hidden stories" behind each design, each poster featured in the app also offers information on the designer as well as comments from the museum's curators.
