Wax museums can be a never ending source of emotive energy and timeless personal experiences due to the degree of realism of the artistic figures. For example, you can sing with Elvis in the Madame Tussauds of Las Vegas or kiss the ring of the Pope John Paul II in the Wax Museum of Prague.
But there is nothing as realistic as the exhibition called “On the Brink†created by the Wax Museums Association of St. Petersburg. It was developed in Moscow in 2003 and it shows the life of a drug addict by means of hyper real figures fully made of wax.
The exhibition was created to promote a healthier way of life and it shows the collateral effects of drugs on the human body represented by strong and shocking sculptures. The high impact realism forced the organizers to have ammonia at hand in order to “resuscitate†the visitors that faint while observing the crude and disfigured faces of drug addicts or the dead embryo of a baby.
