Experimental Video Art Project

Spinvision.tv

If you're addicted to watching music videos online, then you'll love Spinvision.tv, a website that has over 5 million videos, enough to entertain for over 27 years if you watched it all.

The experimental video art project by David Troy was launched on January 28, 2008. It's basically a collection of videos from YouTube which are mapped geographically. When a new user signs up, they're asked to input their location which is then used to pinpoint other music video lovers from around the world.

"We like to think of Spinvision as a love-letter to the world, written in Javascript," the site says.

People can search for videos by entering tags, including geographic data. Type in a place name, and music videos from that place will pop up; if nothing is available from that location, it will just load a page of recent videos.

There are a couple of other neat features to make the site more fun to navigate. For example, the key image of the globe has constantly changing shaded portions to represent the places where it is currently night.

They're the same people behind Twittervision and Flickrvision, both of which will be featured at the MoMA in New York from February 19 until May 12, 2008.
