Calligraphy-Inspired Editorials

Tush Magazine Gets ‘Calligraphique'

This new editorial in Tush magazine, entitled 'Calligraphique,' follows in the footsteps of Jean Paul Gaultier's recent Haute Couture Spring 2009 Collection by taking inspiration from the art of calligraphy.

The editorial, which was photographed by Mikael Schulz, features models Åsa E. and Hanna V. with artistically-painted calligraphy on their faces by makeup artist Viktoria Sörensdotter, who also did their hair.

Implications - This calligraphy-inspired editorial takes a traditional practice and fuses it with a contemporary design. With consumers surrounded by new-age technology, this gives individuals a sense of release from the pressures of the modern world. Companies should consider how to incorporate traditional elements into modern designs in order to appeal to this increasing demand. The businesses that do so will have prestige over other competitors.
