Olympic Etiquette

China's Rules for Beijing Games

Exactly a week before the Beijing Olympics, China has officially outlined the expectations for visitor behavior.

The list ranges from general etiquette such as keeping your clothes on in public (so much for streaking through the Birds Nest stadium) to more discriminatory regulations such as banning people with sexually transmitted diseases and mental illnesses.

Other things people aren't allowed to do in public:

- Sleeping

- Getting drunk

- Setting off fireworks

- Show offensive words in public (signs, clothes)

Other regulations include things like making subway riders prove that their water is safe by drinking from their bottles when approached by authorities.

Beijing has rules for its own people too, such as not serving foods like dog meat in restaurants.

The biggest bummer, however, is that there won't be easy to get your hands on cheap knock offs like DVDs and music.
