Futuristic Shiny Fashion

Balenciaga Spring 2009 RTW Sparkles in Paris

Maybe Hayden Panettiere was on to something with her sequined outfit at Declare Yourself’s ‘Domino Effect’ party in Hollywood, as Balenciaga debuted a dazzling ready-to-wear collection rich with sparkling pieces on the Paris runway.

Designer Nicolas Ghesquière kept the recent Balenciaga sci-fi and futuristic vibe but ventured into an exploration of “matte and shine, playing with textures to see how they reflect or absorb light. And playing with our house codes.”

What I find rather cool is that the models had their arms and legs covered up with skintight fabric, which added a bit of an awkward reserved sensuality.
