Kyla C. Gutsche completed an undergraduate degree in art history at the University of Calgary before studying at the University of Oxford in England, where she obtained a Master’s degree in Art Historiography and is currently completing a Doctorate with an emphasis on the aesthetics of Alo Riegl.  Like Riegl, she feels that art history should be taught without the bullshit and that art historians and the general public must be brought together in understanding works of art.

She is a renowned speaker and lecturer who makes subjects ranging from art scandals to fashion and design entertaining and accessible. 

Among her publications is the modern Canadian art section in the The Oxford History of Western Art, edited by Martin Kemp.
