Walmart is advancing its AI-powered technology to offer a virtual clothing try-on tool for online consumers. Walmart recently announced its acquisition of Zeekit, a virtual try-on startup that utilizes real-time image processing, computer vision, deep learning, and other AI technologies, and has now begun implementing these features on Walmart.com.
‘Choose My Model’ is a feature that allows Walmart customers to select a model that closely represents their own appearance and body type. Online customers can choose between 50 models in order to find one that mirrors their skin tone, height, and body shape.
This technology uses Walmart Global Tech’s neural networks, which function to analyze catalog images of apparel and design a dressed image using computer vision algorithms. The ‘Choose My Model’ feature focuses on accurately representing Walmart’s womenswear category, combining Walmart’s exclusive brands like Free Assembly, Scoop, Sofia Jeans by Sofia Vergara, and more to give consumers a visual representation of their future outfits.
