Shakey’s is embracing nostalgic restaurant collaborations by adding Thrifty Ice Cream to all of its Southern California locations. The partnership brings together two long-standing California brands, pairing Shakey’s pizza, fried chicken and Mojo Potatoes with Thrifty’s recognizable ice cream. Four flavors—Chocolate Malted Krunch, Birthday Cake, Cookies & Cream and Vanilla—have been adapted into convenient 3.6-ounce single-serve cups. Guests can enjoy them independently or use them to create a Brownie Sundae, integrating the ice cream directly into Shakey’s dessert menu.
For Shakey’s, the partnership expands its dessert selection without requiring the development of an entirely new ice cream line. Thrifty gains another physical channel for reaching consumers beyond its traditional retail presence. By emphasizing the shared California heritage of both brands, the collaboration can also attract longtime customers through familiarity while introducing each company to the other brand’s existing audience.
