Saint Harridan is an Oakland-based retailer that produces suits for women and trans men.
Growing up, founder Mary Going never felt comfortable in dresses and other traditionally feminine clothing. When Going was preparing to wed her partner Martha in 2008, she knew she would not be comfortable getting married in a wedding dress. Instead, she purchased a custom-fitted suit for the occasion. The feeling of confidence that came from wearing that suit inspired Going to start Saint Harridan.
The company produces garments that are specifically designed to fit women and trans men: shorter arm measurements and broader hip measurements ensure that Going's customers get the right fit, in styles that look and feel great, without having to have each item custom-made.
