NYC's School Construction Authority Unveils a Carbon Neutral Design

New York City's School Construction Authority has a fantastic reputation for building some of the city's greenest civic buildings, but their latest plan for a completely carbon-neutral school looks to be their most ambitiously eco-friendly project yet.

Set to be built in Rossville of Staten Island, the school will provide education facilities for children from kindergarten to grade five. Furthermore, the School Construction Authority has also mandated that the two-story building will house a cafeteria, a gymnasium, a library as well as music, science and art studios.

Most important, however, is the fact that the school will produce more energy than it uses. In this way it will not only serve to teach a young generation of minds about sustainable design, but will also be a model upon which future eco-friendly schools can be based.
