Petal Balcony Residences

Rêve En Suspens is a Sculptural Apartment Building

The Rêve en suspens residential project by 314 Architecture Studio features layered, petal-like balconies that define the building's sculptural form while responding to climate and everyday living. Completed in 2022 in Voula along the Athenian Riviera, the apartment building replaces a conventional stacked façade with sweeping curved terraces that vary in depth and projection across each floor. The balconies function as outdoor living spaces, solar shading devices and privacy screens, extending interior spaces toward the surrounding coastal landscape while maintaining views through the layered composition.

A reinforced concrete structural core works alongside steel substructures that support the cantilevered balcony profiles concealed beneath smooth exterior cladding. The predominantly white material palette emphasizes the flowing geometry and allows changing daylight to define the façade through shifting highlights and shadows. At street level, a perforated metal enclosure introduces filtered views and privacy while framing recessed entrances.
