Ohio State Debuts a New AI Fluency Initiative for First-Years

Ohio State Univesity announced that it will be introducing a new initative that will see this year's fall first-year students become educated on the proficiencies needed to accurately and responsibly use AI tools. As a result of this effort, artificial intelligence will be incorporated into the core of every undergraduate curriculum, allowing students to learn the ins and outs of the technology across disciplines. This will begin with the Class of 2029.

“Artificial intelligence is transforming the way we live, work, teach and learn. In the not-so-distant future, every job, in every industry, is going to be impacted in some way by AI,” said Ohio State President Walter “Ted” Carter Jr. “[...] I’m so pleased that we are taking this bold step forward to set our students up for success and keep Ohio competitive for the long term. We have a strong foundation on which to build, and the AI Fluency initiative will only accelerate our momentum in mission-driven AI research and education.”
