Louis Vuitton has revealed its latest ‘Mahjong Vanity Trunk,’ a custom vanity case that comes dressed in the fashion house’s signature LV Monogram print. The vanity trunk pays homage to Louis Vuitton’s roots as a Parisian luggage and packing shop, referencing the brand’s iconic flat-topped canvas steamer trunks. The first Louis Vuitton mahjong travel trunk arrived in the 1950s and was decorated with a satin-lined interior. The box held all 144 mahjong tiles, four wooden rulers, dice, a wind indicator, and sticks.
The new ‘Mahjong Vanity Trunk’ features a cowhide trim, green lining, a monogrammed canvas exterior, and brass clasps. Each mahjong tile is made with natural stone and American walnut and is hand-painted using Louis Vuitton’s signature floral detailing.
