Thoughtful Sun-Soaked Editorials

Jennifer Medina Photographed Ally Marzella at Home

New York-based photographer Jennifer Medina shot Ally Marzella surrounded by the creature comforts of her own home.

Medina explains, “I went over to Ally’s beautiful lit apartment and she reminded me so much of a pastel princess made out of porcelain who can also turn into the baddest girl of your most dirty dreams, which is why I wanted to mix up the two, resulting in this set of photos.”

The images are like night and day. In the first set, Marzella looks plaintive and thoughtful, drinking in the sunlight as though it's an elixir that will solve all of her problems. In the second set, Marzella is cast in shadow, and looks more defiant than reflective. Overall, Marzella dutifully acts out Medina's dual vision of a good-girl-gone-bad in this shoot.
