3sixteen has introduced the 5 Series, a denim collection built around custom Japanese selvedge fabrics and heavier weights designed to evolve dramatically with wear. The lineup centers on a deep-indigo 105x and a double-black 225x, with an 18-ounce unsanforized 105xk scheduled to follow, featuring a firmer hand and textured surface character.
The 105x is a 15.75oz sanforized indigo woven by Nihon Menpu with a 3×1 weave and visible crosshatching intended to accelerate high-contrast fades. The 225x is a raw black warp-and-weft selvedge also from Nihon Menpu that lightens to grey in high-friction zones and carries a faded rose-pink selvedge ID. Both fabrics are offered in RS Relaxed Straight and CS Classic Straight fits and are constructed in the United States with selvedge fly details and roughout leather patches.
For wearers this means jeans that start rigid and become personalized over months of use, rewarding committed break-in and offering distinct indigo or tonal-black narratives. The heavier, texture-forward approach appeals to enthusiasts who value process and long-term character, and it broadens 3sixteen's core denim assortment with more collectible, archival-minded options.
