Hand-Embroidered Sequin Gowns

This Elie Saab Couture Piece Pays Tribute to the Roaring Twenties

Elie Saab's 2018 Spring couture line boasts a hand-embroidered sequin gown, featuring a total of 9,000 small shiny disks and crystals. The designer wasn't just expressing the elegant and party-esque fashion of a bygone era, but was also channeling the buoyant attitude of women. The designer told Vogue he "was inspired by the energy and atmosphere of this iconic time, where women lived largely and dressed beautifully."

The haute couture's Art Deco motifs are captured in the geometrical positioning of the embellishments on top of a nude tulle fabric, ultimately giving the illusion of floating jewelry. Elie Saab has selectively combined his beautiful hand-embroidered sequin gowns with assertive accessories such as eye-catching feather detailing and over-sized bowl designs.
