Dr Martens' & Engineered Garments Unveil Reimagined 1461 Silhouettes

Just in time for the fall season, British footwear brand Dr. Martens has joined forces with Engineered Garments, a fashion-forward menswear label founded by designer Daiki Suzuki, to launch two new takes on the classic Dr. Marten 1461 silhouette. These include the '1461 Engineered Garments Milkshake Hi Suede' and the '1461 Engineered Garments Black Smooth.'

For this unique collaboration, New York-based Engineered Garments has reimagined the 1461 shoe by incorporating timeless textures, neutral hues, and a subtly revamped structural design. The Milkshake Hi Suede features a lightweight, water-resistant beige suede, while the Black Smooth comes in premium black leather. Both models feature an "overly engineered" asymmetric lace system, yellow welt stitching, and a silver-foiled sock liner.

Overall, the new shoes aim to pay tribute to the timeless manufacturing techniques used in Dr. Marten's original Northamptonshire, UK factory. In fact, it was Dr. Marten's dedication to craftsmanship that drew Suzuki to the brand in the first place, as he is a designer who possesses a lifelong passion for localized manufacturing traditions.
