Dominos is testing cashless stores, where customers are only able to pay with debit or credit cards, or using digital services like ApplePay, Android Pay, or PayPal. This also extends to deliveries, and is testing is occurring across five stores in Australia. The company has indicated that the new method of payment will make the store more efficient, by cutting down on wait times. The company also notes this will protect employees from carrying cash.
Australia is a good location to test the cashless stores, due to the country making moves away from physical money. The country recently outlawed cash purchases over $15,000.
The cashless stores follow the pizza giant's ethos, as the company has explored many different methods of delivery. Some notable trials have included options to order pizza from a car and testing drone as well as autonomous vehicle deliveries.
