CARina Transforms the Evening Purse

Many think of certain cars as being fashionable (such as Porsche and Maserati), but may not form a connection between those and fashion accessories (such as, say, the evening purse).

As part of a final project at Israel’s Holon Institute of Technology, Israeli industrial designer Sivan Shiran created ‘CARina,’ a collection of colorful evening clutches (emphasis on car). Inspiration for the collection, which is made by casting of elastic Polyuethane, stems from car and automotive design. The nature of the project was to create an association between a technological-industrial object and a fashionable item, while also shaping a new design language for evening bags. These sleek, funky, and colorful bags present an innovative take on the traditional evening bag. The bags snap shut with closing magnets, and are roomy enough to accommodate everything needed for a night on the town.
