TP-Link Unveiled its First Wi-Fi 7 Travel Router for Consumers

TP-Link’s BE3600 Wi-Fi 7 Travel Router marks the company’s first portable implementation of the 802.11be standard, delivering combined dual-band throughput of up to 3.6 Gbps (2.882 Gbps on 5 GHz and 688 Mbps on 2.4 GHz). It incorporates Wi-Fi 7 enhancements such as Multi-Link Operation, 4K-QAM, and multi-RU technology to reduce latency and improve stability in congested environments. The compact chassis includes a USB-C power input that supports both wall adapters and mobile power banks, alongside a 2.5 Gbps WAN port, a 1 Gbps LAN port, and a USB 3.0 port for file sharing or USB-modem tethering. Seven operating modes—router, hotspot with captive-portal login, USB-tethering, 3G/4G/5G USB-modem, access point, range-extender, and client—allow users to deploy it across diverse travel scenarios, from hotels and airports to cruise ships and remote work sites.
Security and network management are core differentiators of the BE3600. It offers built-in VPN client and server support for OpenVPN and WireGuard, plus pre-configured integration with leading providers, while WPA3 encryption and guest-network isolation protect data on public Wi-Fi. The TP-Link Tether mobile app and web interface enable real-time monitoring of bandwidth usage, Quality of Service prioritization, and captive-portal authentication. With capacity to handle up to 90 simultaneous device connections and TP-Link’s HomeShield suite for malware scanning, parental controls, and traffic shaping, the BE3600 combines next-generation performance with robust security and flexible deployment options.
