AI-Powered Retail Recruitment

Gap Inc.'s Bridgette Simplifies Seasonal Hiring

Gap Inc. is introducing AI-powered retail recruitment through Bridgette, a virtual career assistant designed to simplify seasonal hiring while maintaining personal connections between applicants and managers. The conversational tool helps job seekers discover available positions, submit applications, and arrange interviews through a mobile-friendly experience accessible around the clock.

Developed using Paradox and connected to Workday Recruiting, Bridgette handles candidate questions, appointment coordination, reminders, and hiring updates. Since June, nearly 45,000 applicants have interacted with the assistant during a pilot involving more than 100 stores and six distribution centers. The system has also arranged over 7,000 interviews.

For Gap Inc., automating recruitment administration could improve hiring efficiency as the company anticipates approximately 200,000 seasonal applications. Reducing repetitive scheduling responsibilities allows managers to concentrate on employee development, customer service, and evaluating candidates while retaining control over final hiring decisions.
